Website Domains Dot.ME

I originally posted this on another news forum and so in fairness to my readers, I would appreciate your feedback as well:

What do you think about the worth of the dot.me domains for example www.cruising4.me.

Do these extensions etc have a value in the real world especially as more and more people are less worried about any website having a .com or .co.uk

I would be interested in your comments.

Hey, I’m Back From My Travels !

This blog entry is just a general one aftre my traveling in Africa, France and Jordan. I have finally settled down to the tourism paperwork now.

With all that has been going on with the tourism industries to do with the business downturn it is heartening to see that some countries and tour operators are finding that the global buying public are looking for that something extra and not just the cheapest price to anywhere.

Increases in business to certain “new” African destinations, Jordan and Vietnam are all on the up, which is great news …long may this continue for all developing countries in tourism, so long as they carry these increases with a degree of responsibility to the sustaianability of the programs and the enviromental impact that the tourism may have.

CBI - Export Training for Tourism to the EU

Alongwith a colleague, another succesful training was undertaken in Vietnam at the end of May in Hanoi. Over 40 people from companies throughout Vietnam took part including hotels and tour operators from both the private and national (government owned) sectors. This was organised by the CBI inconjunction with the Vietnamese Tourism authorities and a local BSO.

This is the first stage for Vietnam to gain world acceptance and certainely in Europe for the touritic options they can offer…..one of the best kept secrets in Asia…..

Well done to all those companies, many of whom will be applying for the four year training program offered by the CBI (www.cbi.eu/tourism) to gain a potential foothold in the European markets.

Tourism Training - Bali

Well, this has been completed with a group of 20+ enthusiastic companies from all over Bali, keen to learn the tools to promote themselves to the European market. Some great hotels and community based operations and very importantly very professional SME tour operators who given chance would give the established larger operations a run for their money.

If you are a tour operator that wants to add more to your Asian program I can recommed many of the community projects there and if you want to move away from the stereo type beach and add a peaceful, wellness program then seriously look at the Maya in Ubud…great place and great location for a space etc………

For those of you not involved in tourism…have a think about Indonesia and the isladn of Bali….they have more to offer than the traditional beach holiday….

See my next post regarding Vietnam…..Asias best kept secret!!!

Online Networking for the Travel Industry

Ok so I am biased as I run several online networking groups for the Travel, Tourism and Hospitality industries, but most people are the look but no contribute guys….. I sometimes think that with all the resources that I have access to as a conduit that there should be some mileage in companies using this medium to buy new products and services, check out what is new and save money by cutting costs or using professional people in their network to help them…after all they are all trying to get retails customers that way, but fail to use the web / networks to develop their own businesses….or are they asking their customers to do something that they are not prepared to do themselves????

More CBI Development

Well it looks like the CBI development program is really kicking in now with scheduled trainings in Indonesia, Vietnam, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Salvador by a team including myself. Another team will do Ecuador and Peru…..looking good how tourism can help third world locations develop their own income.
